Luke Benoit pursued a Master of Legal Studies (MLS) at Seattle University as a strategic step toward deepening his expertise and expanding his professional impact in compliance. Before beginning the program, Luke served as a Compliance Coordinator within the California State University, Sacramento athletic department. Since then, his career has progressed significantly. He is now the Director of Compliance at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Balancing full-time work with graduate coursework was initially a challenge, but Luke found his rhythm. In fact, his professional role often complemented his studies. “Many of the concepts from the program directly aligned with my responsibilities, allowing me to connect coursework with real-world application,” he explains.
That connection has already translated into tangible results. Luke has applied what he learned to strengthen institutional policies at his university, incorporating feedback from peers and professors to better mitigate risk and ensure compliance.

Among his many accomplishments, Luke is most proud of completing his capstone project. Focused on supporting early-career NCAA compliance professionals, the project addressed challenges he personally faced and aimed to provide meaningful guidance to others entering the field.
